Overview

ID-EGO is developed and published by rosmic games. It is the first game published by the company. It is set to release November 25, 2019.

Set in a distant future where mankind have colonized space, ID-EGO mainly takes place inside an alien spaceship and on one of the space-colonies that was devastated by the same aliens.

Gameplay

Combat

ID-EGO is highly dependant on the skill of the player as there are no special-abilities the player needs to evolve their sense for combat with an increased difficulty throughout the game.

Headshots are effective against humanoid enemies!

The game keeps the player on their feet as all enemies have their own quirks and special attacks.

All enemies can be conquered with wit and tactics.

Resources

ID-EGO keeps it simple, the resources used are health, shield and ammunition. All can be found throughout the game, some inside hidden places or storage containers, others are dropped from enemies. Health is common to find whereas shield which is drained before health is more uncommon to find. The player will start with different amount of resources depending on the chosen difficulty.

Exploration

Having a linear level system does not prevent the individual levels from giving freedom of exploration. Part of the game is semi-procedural keeping the levels different each time, this can be quite challenging and sometimes frustrating if the player die and have to replay a level on one of the higher difficulty settings.

The objectives guide part of the way but some goals can be harder to find than others.

Missions

All missions start from the player-base or 'the lobby'. ID-EGO will give the player an objective and then instruct them how to travel to the mission-location.

Interactions

There are a ton of interactions to be made with objects in the environment throughout the game. Some are panels to open doors and operate elevators, others are supply crates and lockers that can be opened for ammo/health/shield.

The two types of interactions are:

  • Direct interaction with objects (e.g. opening a locker)
  • On-screen computer panel interaction (e.g. switching between level-selections on the teleporter)

Puzzles

Puzzles are placed throughout the game, some are simple as turning a valve and some are more challenging such as rerouting power on a circuit board. All types require the player to keep their wits about them and not rush into a dangerous situation.

Difficulty Settings

For players of different skill levels ID-EGO offers 4 difficulty settings:

  • Easy
  • Normal
  • Hard
  • Insane

Tutorial

From the main-menu the player can choose to partake in "Basic Training" where ID-EGO will guide the player through some of the quirks of the game. All from opening doors to 'jump-crouching' to mixing it up on the jukebox.
