A 2D old school online multiplayer RPG inspired by roguelikes, roguelites and dungeon crawling games.


Euotopia, formerly known as EUO has been developed by eggmceye since 1998.
It was on a request from his friends to make a multiplayer roguelike.

But it's in 2003 that the game truly started and the servers for were since then never turned off, or so they say!

It's a 2D topdown view game where one can control a character to fight, craft, run, explore.

One can move in 8 different directions and go up/down levels.

The division of the screen is made up of 4 boxes.

The top left box is where the magic happens a.k.a the game itself.

The bottom left box is the chat aswell the log of meaningful actions.

The top right box has basic information and can be changed to view items, craft, see skills etc.

The bottom left box has a statbox which can be freely edited with lua language. In the screenshot it's been scripted to show items left in inventory that are bound to a key.

One has to defeat monsters to level up and depending on which server you play the level cap differs.

Earning levels gives the players character a choice on which stat to raise. There are 3 base stats STR, INT and DEX.

Str gives more hp and increases damage for certain weaponry

Dex makes the character walk faster and increases damage for certain weaponry

Int gives more mana and makes spells hit harder.


There are 9 races in this game at the moment of this writing and more are continually being added:

Humans, Draconians, Bloodkin, Shadow folk, Half-Orc, Half-Troll, Gnomes, Dwarves and skeletun.

Choosing a race is permanent.

Each race has their own perks.

Classes and skills

Classes are actually a label to skills and one can freely combine and change classes at any moment of the game.

For every server there is a certain classcap.

Each skill % linked to a class makes this class % higher.

For example longswords belongs to fighter class. Having 30% longswords means 30% fighter class.

Polearms also belong to fighter class. Having 30% longswords and 15% polearms still still means 30% fighter because that is the highest skill that is related to this class. This way one can achieve 40% monk 30% fighter and 50% mage for a total classcap of 120%.

These were the class related skills.

There are also universal skills which every character can learn.
